Keep your clients feeling merry with these 4 tips for holiday marketing.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year; a time of family gatherings, gift giving and mouth-watering spreads. But in the real estate world, the holiday season heralds an even more wonderful treat – the prospect of a much-needed break; some time to relax and recharge after spring.

The market may traditionally be quiet over the summer months, but it’s the perfect time to engage with current and prospective clients in a more light-hearted way. So, before thoughts turn to eggnog, lazy poolside afternoons and trips away, have a think about these 4 ways to keep your marketing fun in the festive season.

1. Be social

This is the ideal place to get creative with seasonal content, keeping you top-of-mind while the market’s slow. Offer some inside knowledge about local community Christmas events like carols or light displays; or get people involved by sharing their own tips on festive interior decorating. A simple contest involving hashtagged photos or shared content is another great way to dial up the engagement.

2. Spread the festive spirit

Just like you, your clients have been working hard all year, so a little bit of festive cheer will be well received in their inbox. The holidays give you an outlet to set aside your regular email templates and use some seasonal wordplay or visuals to boost open rates. It’s a good time to provide clients with yearly wrap-ups or exciting outlooks for the New Year – just remember that you don’t want your emails to be sales pitches. The Christmas run-in is when people are inundated with promotions and sales offers, so keep it fun, relevant and helpful.

3. Make it personal

Christmas cards are the tried and trusted way to stay in touch with clients over the holidays, but you’ll want to stand out. It may take a little extra time, but personalised messages and custom designs will show much more care and consideration. Since it’s the season for giving, you may also be thinking about gifts for your loyal customers, and there’s no limit to what can be custom printed – from bookmarks and notepads to beer or wine labels.

4. Embrace some seasonal style

Open homes are an excellent way to tap into the emotional pull of the festive season. Cooking and baking, hosting family and friends, and unwrapping presents by the tree are all on people’s minds, so make sure the kitchen and entertaining spaces are styled accordingly. Holiday-scented candles or a carefully curated Christmas playlist can really dial up the atmosphere, or if you’re feeling especially giving, you could offer attendees seasonal treats or drinks. As with open homes, Christmas decorations can add some warmth to property photography leading into the holiday season, but be mindful that they can date the campaign if things don’t quite go according to plan.

Yes, that well-earned break is just around the corner, but a little attention to detail during December can get your holiday marketing off to a great start. Be creative and keep your clients feeling festive!
